The fabulous castle is sold at a "bargain" price, but it is full of scary stories

Have you ever dreamed of having your own secret castle and wandering the fortified corridors like a true monarch? A medieval castle in the northern Italian region of Emilia Romagna, in the village of Serravalle, is for sale for €1.9 million, cheaper than the price of a house in central London or Rome.   

Located on green hills, at an altitude of 400 meters, the castle is sold together with the manor house around it. The 18th-century property, called Palazzo Boccadiferro, is built on the ruins of several pagan settlements. It includes the magnificent castle, a hunting lodge in the forest, an observation tower, a stunning panoramic walkway, as well as a 14,000 square meter park.

The castle is perfectly preserved, equipped with a kitchen, bathrooms and several bedrooms. All rooms have luxurious Renaissance style furniture. While other parts of the property, such as the observation tower, built in 1227 and modified in 1523, need to be reconstructed. But, considering its historical and artistic value, the castle is under the supervision of the regional authorities, so any adjustment must be made based on certain rules.

Wars and Ghosts
Like any other property of this type, the history of this castle is full of mysteries. Initially, the castle was conquered and destroyed by the Lombard tribes in the eighth century. It has always been an important military center in the battles against the invaders. For this reason, the castle has several secret structures, such as a tunnel that still exists and connects the tower to the palace.  

According to local legends, the castle is haunted by ghosts. It is said that once a man named Boccadiferro killed 12 women and their spirits appear at night wailing through the corridors, seeking revenge and leaving behind the scent of their perfumes.

However, Serravalle Castle is a perfect place for nature lovers as well as lovers of Italian cuisine, as the property is surrounded by numerous agritourism restaurants.
