The Democratic Party denounced the increase in the price of water for citizens.
The spokesperson of the Democratic Party, Mirela Karabina, in a statement to the media, said that water, according to her, is "the best reflection of the misadministration, abuse and corruption of policy-making."
Karabina says that citizens "not only pay twice for water, but also face the abusive increase in its price."
"Even though we are a country with considerable water resources, still today the water in our taps comes on schedule and is not drinkable, even harmful to our health. Water is the best reflection of the mismanagement, abuse and corruption of policy making.
Citizens not only pay twice for water, the non-drinkable water that comes from the taps and the drinkable water that they buy, but they also face the abusive increase in its price. The Democratic Party for the citizens and in their service will denounce every corrupt act and encourages and supports without any reservation the justice bodies to act on anyone who misuses the office through corruption," said Karabina.

Agjencia Kombëtare e Ujësjellës Kanalizimeve dhe Infrastrukturës së Mbetjeve (AKUM) pas rakordimit të të dhënave me OSHEE Group Sh.a, raportonte se detyrimet e akumuluara (principal pa kamata) të ndërmarrjeve të ujësjellës-kanalizimeve rezultojnë të jenë në vlerën 14.01 miliardë Lekë. Nga totali i detyrimeve principal pa kamata të raportuara, vetëm ndërmarrja e UK Sh.a Durrës ka 4.93 miliard Lekë detyrime të akumuluara në vite.
Në total janë të paktën 5 ndërmarrje ujësjellës-kanalizimesh që kanë detyrimet më të mëdha të energjisë në raport me borxhin total. Pas Durrësit e dyta vjen Vlora me 1.44 miliardë lekë, Patosi me 860 milionë lekë, Fieri me 770 milionë lekë dhe Kavaja me 760 milionë lekë. Sektori i ujësjellës-kanalizimeve është një ndër ata që shfaqin performancë më të dobët dhe që mbështetet vazhdimit nga buxheti i shtetit.
Pas dështimit spektakolar me Ujësjellësat, Qeveria ka vendosur të bëj një reformim ku nga 58 shoqëri do të krijohen 15 të tilla që do të rezultojnë nga bashkimet.
Reforma do të finalizohet me krijimin e 15 shoqërive, nga 58 që ishin deri vitin që shkoi, teksa aktualisht janë krijuar 12 prej tyre. Kjo nënkupton se një shoqëri, tashmë përfshin disa bashki ku aktualisht aplikohen tarifa të ndryshme të ujit, por që do të shkojnë gradualisht drejt unifikimit.
