EUROSTAT/ Life expectancy, southern Albania 4 years less than the north, 7 years less than the EU

The latest indicators regarding life expectancy in Albania are published. The European Statistics Agency has recently published data on life expectancy at birth, which is the average number of years a newborn is expected to live based on mortality rates among people of all ages. "Scan Intel" has returned to this indicator again, this time analyzing it according to the regions of Europe but also according to gender. In 2020, this indicator in our country was calculated at 77.4 years old on average. As the graphic presentation also shows, in the central region people are expected to live longer, with about 78.9 years on average, while the expected life expectancy in the east and south is lower, with 76.2 years of life. Meanwhile, in the north, life expectancy in the east is recorded at 77.3 years.
This indicator also varies significantly according to gender, where the figures analyzed by "Scan Intel" show that men in Albania are expected to live 73.3 years, while women are expected to live 79.6 years. Referring to "EUROSTAT" data, women are expected to live an average of 4.3 years longer than men, while in the central region they are expected to live 5 years longer. As for the difference between the life expectancy of women and men in the northern and southern regions, they are calculated at 4.4 years and 3.9 years, respectively.
But how does life expectancy at birth compare between men and women for countries in the region? The data from the "European Statistics Agency" show that Albania ranks among the European countries that have the lowest difference between the life expectancy of women and the life expectancy of men, which as we mentioned above was calculated at 4.3 years. Iceland has the lowest difference, where women are expected to live about 3 years longer than men. After Iceland, Norway follows in the ranking, with 3.3 years. If we talk about the other side of the table, Lithuania is the country that attracts the most attention. Lithuania has the highest difference in life expectancy at birth between women and men. Men in this country are expected to live 10 years less than women, while Latvia follows in the ranking with a difference of 9.4 years.
Throughout 2020, the average life expectancy at birth for the European Union was 83.2 years. Among other things, "Scan Intel" has compared the regions of Europe with each other, from which it seems that the south of Albania ranks among the last countries, as the region with the shortest life expectancy in the east, with 76.2 years on average. The South is ranked 335 out of 395 total regions in the list analyzed. The island of Corsica, a region of France, ranks first in terms of life expectancy in the east, with 84 years./ SCAN intel
