Beware of heavy footage! The woman is attacked by the shark, swims to the shore

Holidaymakers have captured the chilling moment a woman tried to swim back to shore after a shark bit her arm and leg.

The Austrian woman, 68, died most likely of a heart attack after the attack in Sahl Hasheesh Bay in the Red Sea.

The horror footage shows her screaming to security for help as the waters around her turned red. Horrified onlookers tried to distract the animal, but no one jumped in to help.

The Austrian tourist arrived with difficulty at the shore. But she died a few minutes later in an ambulance. Authorities closed the beaches for three days.

Shark attacks in Egypt are rare, but the Red Sea has more than 44 species of fish, some of which can be deadly.

The most common are gray tip sharks, 6 meters long, which have 13 or 14 sharp teeth. They swim in shallow waters about 60 m deep or less.

In October 2020, a 12-year-old Ukrainian boy on vacation in Egypt and his guide lost limbs after a shark attack.

And in 2010, five shark attacks occurred in Sharm el Sheikh.
