Tirana International Airport welcomes Ryanair and announces expansion plan

Tirana International Airport (TIA) is pleased to announce the start of Ryanair operations in Tirana with the inaugural Ryanair flight from Rome to Tirana.

TIA is delighted to partner with Ryanair, which will serve a total of 17 new destinations to and from Albania this Winter, connecting us to important tourism markets such as Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Sweden and the Kingdom of United. This development not only increases connectivity and tourism in our region, but also creates employment opportunities and makes travel more reasonable and easy for our Albanian citizens and visitors to Albania.

Some of the highlights of our partnership with Ryanair include:

• 17 new destinations: We are happy to present new routes connecting Tirana with major European cities such as Brussels, Düsseldorf, London, Milan, Paris and Rome.
• Low fares: Ryanair offers fares starting from just €15 one way, ensuring that flights are accessible to everyone.
• 1.6 Million Passengers Per Year: We anticipate that we will welcome over 1.6 million passengers in the first year of operation, indicating the growing demand for air travel in Albania.
• Supporting local employment: This partnership supports over 1,000 local jobs, which further contributes to Albania's economic development.

Mauro Bolla, a Ryanair representative, expressed the company's enthusiasm for this adventure, stating: “Ryanair is delighted to welcome its first passengers here in Tirana, as Albania officially becomes Ryanair's 37th country. We have big plans for Albania and look forward to welcoming even more passengers on flights to and from Tirana.”

Following this event, Tirana International Airport is happy to announce a series of substantial investments in the expansion of the airport, to transform Tirana International Airport into a center of growth and opportunity.

These investments are motivated by the tremendous potential for expansion that Ryanair's presence in Albania brings and aligns with Ryanair's vision of establishing a dedicated base in Tirana.

This symbolizes an important moment in the promising path of aviation in Albania, opening new horizons for travelers, businesses and our local community. These investments come in response to Ryanair's request, emphasizing our commitment to facilitate their vision of establishing a base in Tirana.

We have already started the divestment process, a critical step taken to improve Ryanair's expansion plans. This decision emphasizes our commitment to show the full potential of aviation in Albania.
