Organized crime/DailyMail: How Albanian gangs are using barbershops for their crimes

Authorities in Great Britain in their crackdown on organized crime have targeted the latest organized crime syndicate scheme involving barbershops across the country's biggest cities.
According to the British DailyMail, drug gangs are using some such businesses to hide the proceeds of crime, while it is believed that many of them are also being used as bases for human trafficking.
The explosion of hair salons in London and other major UK cities has prompted experts to call for a full-scale investigation.
Some of them are reportedly run by Albanian and Kurdish gangs who make money smuggling tens of thousands of migrants from Calais to Dover in lorries and small boats across the English Channel.
Former Metropolitan Police officer Ali Hassan Ali said: 'Along the high streets we have seen a 'boom' in the opening of these salons since the pandemic. Many of these businesses have thousands of pounds of equipment but no customers.
"There are strong reasons to believe that a large number, especially those owned by Albanians, Turks and Kurds, have links to organized crime. It can be people smuggling and in some cases drugs", he said.
