New details have emerged from the scandal involving the Port of Durres and the National Food Authority, where a significant amount of frozen chicken fillets imported from Brazil were found to contain salmonella, while some of it was placed on the market and consumed.

Media sources indicate that this amounts to over 18 tons in total, of which 13.1 tons of chicken fillet was placed on the market and consumed, while 5.2 tons was blocked by the AKU. The quantity entered Albania on March 11.

Meanwhile, the AKU, after the scandal was published, through a short press release to the media, accepted the facts, but did not reveal which company had put the salmonella-tainted fillet on the market, thus failing to provide transparency for the consumer.

Media sources indicate that the company that launched the chicken fillet with salami on the market is "AMG FOOD", or known by the trade name "diMal". The company is under the administration and 100% owned by citizen Mondi Goxha.

The "diMal" company also advertises on "Top Channel" television, on one of the most watched shows, "Big Brother Vip", while as can be seen in the video below, it also organizes challenges, offering prizes to residents.

This was ascertained after standard procedures, where AKU inspectors at the customs point took samples of the imported meat and sent them for analysis. Until the results of the analysis were released, the meat should have remained blocked, but in the meantime the opposite has happened.

Without waiting for the results of the analyses, the importing entity, in this case the company "AMG FOOD", or known by its trade name as "diMal", was allowed to release the entire product onto the market for sale.

The analysis results came out 5 days late and part of the quantity was distributed on the market and consumed, which is 13.1 tons of chicken fillet.

Responsibility for this scandal goes directly to the Ministry of Agriculture headed by Anila Denaj and the institution under its jurisdiction, the National Food Authority, headed by Manush Kullolli.

Concerned not about the health of citizens, but about the fact that this scandal could become a media scandal, the AKU has knocked on the door of the entity that imported the meat, so that it withdraws from the market. "Ora News" reported earlier that the AKU inspectors have asked the importing entity for the distribution invoices, but the entity's representative has "shown his muscles" to the inspectors by refusing to make the invoices available.

The irresponsibility of the institution led by Manush Kullolli continues to endanger the lives of citizens, while the "flirtations" of businessmen with AKU inspectors cause the latter to turn a blind eye to flagrant violations.

NFA's reaction:

In the context of transparency and public information, as well as in order to guarantee food safety and protect consumer health, the National Food Authority has undertaken a series of immediate and structured measures to address a situation identified a few days ago during the control processes of food products imported at the Port of Durrës.

Referring to the analysis at ISUV on 21.03.2025, for the presence of Salmonella Typhimurium in a sample of chicken product (frozen fillet), imported from Brazil, the AKU has intervened in a coordinated manner with the structures responsible for tracking, verifying and blocking the product in question, as well as for taking administrative and legal measures against the responsible entity.

The importing entity was inspected to monitor traceability, which was referred to the bodies of the Tirana Judicial District Prosecutor's Office for further procedural actions, regarding the elements of the criminal offense of failure to comply with traceability criteria and providing incorrect information.

The National Food Authority assures the public that the situation is being continuously monitored and that every action has been taken in the interest of transparency, safety and protection of the health of citizens.

For any further developments, the NFA will continue to inform in an accurate and responsible manner.
