This is the photo of the leader of the Durrës Gang, Lulzim Berisha, who was arrested on Thursday morning in Spain.

Internationally wanted as a person of high social risk, Lul Berisha was caught thanks to the cooperation of the FAST units of Albania and Spain in the coded operation "Sant Joan".

The State Police had provided information through intelligence that Berisha was in the Spanish territory and thanks to the cooperation with the homologous structures, it became possible to arrest him.

We remind you that for Lulzim Berisha, the Supreme Court decided in December 2021 that he should return to prison to serve his sentence for another 5 years. The decision of the Supreme Court overturned the decision of the Court of Appeal of Durrës, which had decided to release Berisha from the cell and serve the rest of the sentence with probation.

Berisha must serve the remaining 5 years of his sentence, as he was convicted as the former leader of the Durrës Gang. He was initially sentenced to life imprisonment, but when the file was sent to the Supreme Court, the sentence was reduced to 25 years in prison.

After that, Berisha started the battle with justice to be freed. In 2016, the Durrës Court of Appeal accepted his request to continue the remainder of the sentence with probation. In one of the documents supporting his claim for release, there was also one signed by the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, who said that he would hire him in one of the Municipality's departments.

1 year after his release, SPAK requested his arrest, as he is suspected of being involved in the murder of Klodian Saliu and Vajdin Lamaj in 2005. He continues to be on the run.
