Albania is also included/ 75 congressmen in letter to Rubio: Lift visa suspension. Discriminatory and arbitrary decision

75 US congressmen from five districts have sent a letter to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, expressing their concern over the administration's decision to suspend visas for 75 countries, including Albania.
"This is an ugly and discriminatory policy decision by your Administration that affects nearly 40% of all countries. It is also surprising that such a drastic policy change that affects hundreds of thousands of people per year would be announced not only through a tweet, but also without providing any comprehensive information."
Congressmen are asking the two secretaries to review the decision on immigrants, arguing that it affects thousands of families in the process of joining, skilled workers, students or pending permanent residents.
“This discriminatory policy will have a devastating impact on our constituents. It will divide families and prevent them from reuniting, it will block individuals from pursuing the American Dream, it will hinder the growth of small businesses, and it will undermine the ability of religious organizations to build and support their communities. In short, this policy is backward, outdated, and does far more harm than good.”
It is further noted that according to experts, the indefinite pause will remove almost half of all legal immigrants over the next year.
An analysis of visas issued over the past three years shows that people from affected countries make up 40 to 45 percent of all immigrant visas.
The letter also lists a series of questions, which must be answered by February 20, on the transparency of the decision, the legal arguments or the figures on which it is based. The Trump administration on January 16 made the decision to indefinitely suspend visas for 75 countries earlier this month, while the decision took effect on January 21.
This decision affects immigrant visas, which are "Green Card" visas, family reunification visas, or work visas that grant you the right to live permanently in the United States. This means that it does not apply to tourist visas.
