The year is 2026. Albania has believed for 35 years that it has overthrown the communist dictatorship, a dictatorship built on the cult of the individual, on the worship and fetishization of the “superman,” positioned somewhere between God and humans. But 35 years later, the country is once again on a dark journey, on a path more chaotic and unclear than ever.
The cult of the individual has not only not fallen; it has tragically returned with the same characters. The same individuals who in the early 1990s emerged from the Bloc from the cradle of the ALP nomenclature have today built their own political monuments and, with their shadow, darken Albanian society: Edi Kristaq Rama and Sali Berisha, former Politburo doctor.
It is incredible how a country in the heart of the European continent, the continent that produced the philosophy of democracy, individual freedom, and the modern state, remains so incapable of building functional institutions and a post-cult political order.
But we are gravely mistaken if we think that Albania's problem is simply one or two bad individuals in power. The real mistake is deeper.
We are a society that has given up on love for the free individual and has replaced it with the worship of power.
In this country, dictatorship did not fall; it changed form. From open violence we moved to accepted obedience, from fear to moral justification of power. The cult of the individual survived because it was stripped of ideology and clothed in extreme selfish pragmatism.
Edi Rama and Sali Berisha are not historical anomalies. They are symptoms.
The cult of the individual is not an Albanian accident; it is the replacement of reason with the worship of leaders.
Autocracy and the cult of the individual in Albania is a social phenomenon, created by the people themselves, not by an external factor, the passive or non-passive cooperation of the overwhelming majority of society.
Edi Rama and Sali Berisha are not ideological opponents. They are products of the same philosophy: the belief that the state is personal property and that the people serve as a moral justification for any abuse.
Power in Albania does not come from free minds, but from obedient bodies. The discourse of the vote has become an alibi: “we are here because they voted for us” is not an expression of moral legitimacy, but a means to close every question. Rama justifies his power with the vote of the masses.
Democracy has nothing to do with the false legitimacy of the majority. Because the majority does not create justice.
A voted robbery remains robbery. A corruption supported by the crowd remains corruption. Rama and Berisha perceive the vote as a tool that can mask abuse, because they are a product of the nomenclature of the Communist Bloc.
Democracy is not the worship of numbers; it is the protection of individual rights, precisely what is being violated today.
Kur pushteti legjislativ sulmon drejtësinë, ai nuk po mbron sovranitetin. Ai po mbron frikën personale të atij që e di se, pa pushtet, do të përballet me ligjin. Dhe sa më afër i vjen drejtësia, aq më e egër bëhet etja për kontroll absolut.
Edi Rama, në pushtet që prej vitit 1998 si ministër, kryetar bashkie dhe prej 2013 si kryeministër, po përjeton një fenomen të rrallë: teksa skandalet e korrupsionit shpërthejnë njëra pas tjetrës, ai mbrohet me një fjali të vetme:
“më kanë votuar”.
Edi Rama është arketipi i liderit që nuk bie nga pushteti kur ekspozohet vjedhja dhe korrupsioni i tij, sepse ai jeton në Shqipërinë ku “shumica” është mburojë penale… njësoj si bolshevizmi.
Sa më shumë përplaset me SPAK-un, aq më fort kapet pas pushtetit. Paralelisht, sa më e ftohtë bëhet marrëdhënia me SHBA-të, aq më shumë konsolidon pushtetin e brendshëm: reforma territoriale, sulme ndaj drejtësisë, shfrytëzim i nevojës gjeopolitike të BE-së për Ballkanin Perëndimor. Ai luan fort, sepse e di që koha nuk është në anën e tij.
Aleati i tij kryesor mbetet oligarkia. Bizneset e mëdha janë të lidhura drejtpërdrejt me prokurimet publike, lejet e ndërtimit, kontratat shtetërore. Por më thellë se kaq: këta oligarkë janë pasqyra psikologjike e vetë Ramës : ego e pangopur, pragmatizëm i errët, pushtet si qëllim në vetvete. Ata e gjejnë veten tek Rama, dhe Rama e gjen veten tek ata.
Nga ana tjetër, pas kësaj kështjelle të errët, qëndron varreza e së shkuarës: Sali Berisha.
Relike politike që mishëron mitin më të vjetër dhe më të rrezikshëm: idenë se një “njeri i fortë” mund të zëvendësojë institucionet. Se një lider mund të jetë njëkohësisht ligji, morali, ekonomia dhe shpëtimi kombëtar.
Kjo nuk është politikë. Është regres deri në epokën fisnore të organizimit shoqëror.
Berisha i përket një kohe kur i pari i fisit merrte përsipër të nxirrte të vetët nga shpella. Konceptet e ndarjes së pushteteve, të check and balance, të kufizimit të liderit nga koha dhe progresi, nuk ekzistojnë në këtë mendësi. Dhe për fat të keq, as tek ndjekësit e tij.
Ndjekësit e tij mishërojnë njerëzit që kanë zgjedhur të ikin nga liria, adhurimi i liderit është nevojë psikologjike për ta, jo vetëm politike. Ata kanë nevojë për një “kryetar tribuje” që do ti luftojë korrupsionin, që shpartallojë bandat, që do jetë njëkohësisht edhe super gjykatës, prokuror edhe super ekonomist dhe ministër i jashtëm. Sepse janë njerëz të formësuar në epokën ku normalja ishte adhurimi i “liderit” të pazëvebdësueshëm me askënd.
Shqipëria nuk vuan nga mungesa e liderëve të mirë. Ajo vuan nga mungesa e individëve të lirë që refuzojnë të adhurojnë.
Nuk ka shpëtimtar. Nuk ka “baba”. Nuk ka njeri mbi ligjin.
Ka vetëm dy zgjedhje morale:
ose individi është sovran mbi jetën e tij,
ose pushteti është sovran mbi individin.
History shows that Albania, to this day, has consistently chosen the latter.
And until it rejects the cult of the "superman," a caricature of the Nietzschean concept, it will not move towards the West but will go around in circles, changing only the faces of tyranny.
Today SPAK and GjKKO are more attacked than ever by two Individuals who have their own cults in Albania. And the truth is that we are seeing a halt to Justice in the face of the Political System, and this is very bad news.
Apparently even in 2026 Albania will choose to live in eras where people slept in caves, and talked about great political prophets.
