A serious incident has shaken the community of Finikounda, following the double murder that occurred on October 5 at a popular campsite in the area. Greek authorities have arrested the suspected perpetrator at his home in Kallithea, while he has denied any involvement in the crime.

According to sources, he and his associate live near Kallithea, raising suspicions of a coordinated plan.

On Tuesday morning, the perpetrator's friend, a 22-year-old man, voluntarily surrendered to the Greek Anti-Corruption Bureau, accompanied by his lawyer, Charalambos Lykoudis. The latter stated that his client had no financial motive and that there was no family connection to the victim.

According to the lawyer, the young man had a "personal and painful relationship" with the campsite owner, whom he accuses of sexual harassment during the summer of 2022.

Lykoudis explained that the intention of the two men on the motorcycle was not to kill, but to intimidate and extort money. He said that his client had used an air pistol to scare the owner shortly before the incident, an act that the young man admitted to authorities.

“He’s the kid in the shorts in the back seat,” the lawyer said, describing his client’s passive role in the event.

According to the investigation, the murder took place at the campsite's reception, where the 68-year-old owner, his 60-year-old caretaker and an old friend were. The perpetrator, with his face covered, forced his way in and shot the owner in cold blood, leaving him dead.

He then killed his friend, who tried to escape. The owner's nephew was also at the scene, but managed to escape.

The incident has opened a wide-ranging investigation into the motives for the murder, the involvement of young people and the role of personal relationships in such crimes. Greek authorities are continuing their investigations to fully elucidate the dynamics and responsibilities of each person involved.
