The Supreme Court will consider on June 4, 2024 the request of the Serious Crimes Prosecution of Tirana, to reinstate the 'life imprisonment' sentence for Dritan Dajti, accused and convicted of 5 murders, among which 4 police officers, one injury, illegal possession of weapons, escape, forgery of documents and stamps, as well as illegal possession of uniform.

The four policemen, Fatos Xhani, Altin Dizdari, Kastriot Feskaj, and Sajmir Duçkollari, were killed in the Police operation on August 7, 2009, when operatives of the State Police Operational Unit intervened in the beach area to arrest Dajti i who was wanted, after he was convicted for the murder of businessman Agim Beqo, an event that occurred in 1999 in Tirana.

Initially, Dajti was sentenced to life imprisonment, but it was removed by judges Skënder Damini, Petrit Aliaj and Aleks Nikolli. These three judges signed in favor of removing the life imprisonment for Dajti, arguing that according to the law it belongs to him and sentenced him to 25 years in prison.

The decision has been appealed by the prosecutor's office and will be reviewed in the consultation room on June 4, 2024.
