Killed the policeman in Fier, the Court of Appeal saves Azgan Mërnica from life imprisonment

The Court of Appeal with General Jurisdiction in Tirana has changed the decision for Azgan Mrnica , sentencing him to 35 years in prison for the murder of police officer Novruz Cenalia .

With this decision, the Appeals Court has saved Mrnica from life imprisonment, a sentence that was previously given by the Fier Court.

The serious incident was recorded on May 13, 2024, at around 1:30 p.m., in the village of Baltëz in Fier. According to the investigative file, everything started after the perpetrator was stopped by a police officer for dangerous driving.

After a verbal argument, according to the Prosecution, Mrnica pulled out a firearm and shot and killed Officer Cenalia. After the incident, he was arrested by law enforcement after an operation that lasted about 48 hours.
