Wisner: Corruption and crime are undermining democracy, stifling the economy and driving away young people
The Chargé d'Affaires of the US embassy in Tirana, David Wisner, emphasizes the importance of US support for the advancement of integration processes in the country. Through a post published on the official website of the American embassy on the "X" network, Wisner also emphasizes that corruption and organized crime must be fought as these phenomena are driving away young people, inhibiting foreign investment and undermining democracy.
" Albania is a NATO ally, a friend and a partner of the United States. We want to support every effort to advance Albania's integration into the EU and the transatlantic trajectory. This includes our support for justice reform. We have over 40 US-funded projects in Albania to support and advise law enforcement and justice institutions. It is a matter of national security for you and for us. Corruption and organized crime hinder economic development, scare away foreign investment, undermine democracy, and drive young, ambitious people to other countries for opportunities ," said Chargé d'Affaires David Wisner.
