Greece/ Serious incident on a tourist boat in Preveza, Frenchman stabs captain

A serious incident occurred in the early hours of this morning, approximately 20 nautical miles northwest of Preveza, Greece, when a 68-year-old French captain of a Greek-flagged cruise ship was attacked with a knife by a passenger.

The captain was wounded in the arm, chest and face.

Fortunately, among those on board the ship was a doctor, who immediately provided first aid until a Coast Guard patrol vessel arrived, which was mobilized following a notification from the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED).

The injured man was initially transported to the port of Preveza and from there by EKAB ambulance to the Preveza General Hospital for further treatment.

At the same time, the patrol boat returned to escort the cruise ship to the port, where two Coast Guard officers had already boarded, guarding the suspected perpetrator.

The case has been taken over by the Preveza Port Authority, which is conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances in which the attack occurred.
