Enlargement Commissioner speaks optimistically about two Balkan countries: Albania could close negotiations by the end of 2027!

Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos speaks with optimism about two Balkan countries that, according to her, could close EU membership negotiations within her mandate.
Marta Kos referred to Montenegro and Albania.
She said that the two countries that have progressed and are at the top of the list to join the EU are Montenegro and Albania.
"Currently, Albania is in second place, which could cross the line of completion of negotiations at the end of 2027 , " said the commissioner.
Marta Kos: Two countries are in the lead, one is Montenegro, with which negotiations could be completed by the end of 2026, after which it is up to the member states to decide how much time it would take for ratification. We have already opened all the chapters with Montenegro, now we are just closing them. Currently, Albania is in second place, which could cross the line of completion of negotiations at the end of 2027… I am aware of the extraordinary importance of communication because I cannot imagine that after all the negotiations have been completed, a member state would say no, we do not want that country in the European Union, so I am optimistic about both vanguard countries, Albania and Montenegro.
