80 more political prisoners released in Venezuela, number rises to 626

The process of releasing political prisoners is underway in Venezuela, with at least 80 people released today, Sunday, from prisons across the country, reports the non-governmental organization Foro Penal.
Venezuela's interim president, Delsi Rodriguez, said on Friday that 626 prisoners have been released so far, but did not give a deadline for the release of the rest. Rodriguez also said she expected to contact the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, on Monday to ask the UN to verify the lists of names of those released so far.
At the same time, the director of Foro Penal, Alfredo Romero, announced on the X platform (formerly Twitter) that 80 prisoners have been released from prisons across the country today, and that other releases may follow in the coming days.
However, the Foro Penal organization has only confirmed the release of 156 political prisoners from January 8 to today, leaving the full number of those released still unclear.
