War between Hamas and Israel, UN General Assembly announces emergency meeting

The UN General Assembly will meet on Tuesday to discuss the situation in Gaza, its president said.
It comes after the US on Friday vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire - supported by almost all other members, while the UK abstained.
The AFP news agency, which said it had seen a draft of the text, said it calls for "an immediate humanitarian ceasefire" as well as the "immediate and unconditional release of all hostages".
