"Miracle" among the ruins! 26-year-old man pulled out alive 5 days

A 26-year-old man was pulled alive after 108 hours under rubble in Myanmar, five days after the devastating earthquake that left around 2,900 dead.

The rescue operation lasted 9 hours, as the country faces a severe humanitarian crisis.

These are the images of a 26-year-old man being pulled alive from the rubble of a hotel in Myanmar, five days after the devastating earthquake that struck the Asian country, causing around 2,900 deaths.

108 hours trapped, shirtless and covered in dust.

He looked weak, but aware.

The operation to get him out alive lasted about 9 hours.

The young man is the last survivor of the tragedy caused by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that toppled thousands of buildings and damaged infrastructure.

The still provisional toll in Myanmar has risen to around 2,900 dead, hundreds missing and thousands injured, but reports say the real figures are much higher.

The earthquake also shook neighboring Thailand, causing the collapse of a multi-story building under construction.

A body was pulled from the rubble early Wednesday, bringing the total death toll in Bangkok to 22, mostly at the construction site.

Myanmar has been devastated by civil war and the earthquake is causing a severe humanitarian crisis with more than 3 million people displaced from their homes and nearly 20 million in need.
