Major anti-drug operation across Croatia, special forces on the ground, dozens arrested
Police officers from the National Police Office for the Fight against Corruption and Organized Crime (Zagreb Office) and the Split-Dalmatia Police Department, in coordination with the Office for the Fight against Corruption and Organized Crime, are conducting two interrelated operations in the area of several police departments since this morning, the Ministry of the Interior announced.
According to Croatian media, the actions involved several dozen people in connection with drug abuse crimes.
As media reports, around 40 people have been arrested.
"After the completion of the criminal investigations, the suspects will be handed over to the detention supervisor, while the police will file a criminal report against them with the Office for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime," the MIA statement quoted the statement as saying.
According to Croatian media, due to the assessment that some suspects are potentially dangerous and armed, special forces and riot police were also involved in the operation.
