The former head of the Service for Special Investigative Methods of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Serbia, Tomislav Radovanovic, has been appointed acting director of the Security and Information Agency (BIA). His appointment at the head of this institution comes after the resignation of Aleksandar Vulin on November 3.

Vulin resigned four months after being sanctioned by the United States for engaging in corrupt and destabilizing activities that undermine the rule of law in the Western Balkans and for assisting Moscow in malign activities and for links to an arms dealer and a drug trafficking network .

In a statement after his resignation, he emphasized that "the USA and the EU are asking for my head as a precondition for not imposing sanctions on Serbia. I am not the cause of blackmail and pressure on Serbia and the Serbian world, but I will not allow myself to be the cause of blackmail and pressure on Serbia and the Serbian world".
