US and Venezuela restore diplomatic relations after Maduro's arrest, US embassy reopens in Caracas

The US and Venezuela have agreed to restore diplomatic and consular relations, marking a major turning point in relations between the two countries after years of political tensions.
According to the US State Department, the agreement aims to promote stability, economic recovery and political reconciliation in Venezuela, as well as create the conditions for a transition towards democratic elections.
Relations between the two countries improved after a military operation in January, when US forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro , who now faces charges of drug and arms trafficking in the US.
After this event, Delcy Rodríguez took over the country's interim leadership and her government expressed readiness for a new phase of dialogue and cooperation with Washington.
Meanwhile, the US embassy in Caracas has reopened and diplomats from the US mission in Colombia are expected to be transferred to Venezuela to strengthen contacts and negotiations between the two countries.
At the same time, the US and Venezuela have also initiated new agreements in the oil and minerals sector, as the Latin American country has the largest oil reserves in the world and large resources of gold, diamonds and rare minerals.
