Trump on peace in Ukraine: I can call Putin, I think we'll solve it

Donald Trump said on Friday that he "may" call Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One as it departed Abu Dhabi, he said: "We need to meet. He and I will meet."

Trump continued: "I think we'll figure it out, or maybe not, but at least we'll know. And if we don't, it'll be very interesting."

Trump said earlier on Friday that he intends to meet with Putin "as soon as possible," while trilateral talks with representatives of Ukraine, Russia and Turkey began today at noon in Istanbul.
