Fatmir Bekteshi's Case: The Bermuda Triangle is Falling, Along with the

One of the businessmen who was ordered to appear today, along with the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, is Fatmir Bekteshi. His name is not unknown to the Albanian public, as he has been involved in several major issues related to politics and business in the country.

Bekteshi is the same businessman who also figures in the “Partizani” case, along with Jamarbër Malltez and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. This is no coincidence, but clear evidence that, despite public declarations of war between the parties, businessmen and oligarchs connected to power remain united behind the scenes.

While in public Veliaj and Berisha appear as fierce opponents, the facts show that they share common interests behind the scenes. This network of influence also includes oligarchs close to Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, as has often been said, are Berisha’s creations. In other words, the famous political triangle in Albania—Berisha, Rama, and Meta—seems to be collapsing, exposing the connections between businessmen that were previously hidden behind the facade of political clashes.

The Bekteshi case is just another example that shows how politics and business remain closely intertwined in Albania, creating a closed system where shared interests prevail over any public rhetoric.
