Despite the emergency for employees, businesses reduce rewards and bonuses for employees in 2021

The business climate indices showed that in 2021, the lack of employees has become the main concern, but meanwhile the actions and measures of businesses to improve human resources management are not helping to stimulate human resources.
Official INSTAT data show that the entire business sector gave only 2.2 billion lek (19 million euros) in bonuses to employees in 2021, with an annual decrease of 19.5%. Spending on employee benefits was the lowest since 2010, when INSTAT data is available.
Due to the reduction in the number of the population due to the drop in births and the high emigration of young people, the country has entered an emergency for employees in all sectors, while human resources and macroeconomic experts believe that one of the most efficient means is to increase wages. , rewards and training for employees.
In these last 20 years, the Albanian economy has been oriented towards sectors with low productivity. But productivity still had room for a higher increase in wages, said the economy expert, Selami Xhepa.
The Albanian economy still operates on the basis of a model that utilizes the free arm of labor, but as the raw material (people) is running out, Albanian businesses count employees as a cost, instead of strengthening human resource management and increasing productivity through theirs.
