33 years RD! January 1991- from Preç Zogaj to Namir Lapardhaja

The "Rilindja Demokratike" newspaper , this Friday (January 5), remembers the 33rd anniversary of the publication of its first issue at the Tirana International Hotel, at 18:00.

" Join us to reflect on RD's extraordinary and inspiring journey. The 33rd anniversary of the publication of "Rilindjes Demokratike", the newspaper that founded the free Albanian press, formalizing the right to tell the truth as it is and not as the regime imposes it , its announcement states.

Today, Rilindja Demokratike has as its editor-in-chief the well-known journalist and publicist Namir Lapardhaja.

January 5, 1991 is for us Albanians the day of free speech. 33 years ago, the first issue of the newspaper Rilindja Demokratike was published, as a newspaper of free speech and free thought after almost half a century of total monism in the Hoxist dictatorship.

Unlike other ex-communist countries, in which a kind of clandestine press and a limited form of pluralism of thought were tolerated, in Hoxist Albania, declared by the Constitution as the state of the dictatorship of the proletariat, free speech until 1990 if it came out of his mouth, he was punished according to the infamous article 55 with many years in prison.

Immediately after the establishment of the Democratic Party, its Initiative Committee in one of its first meetings, in a historic decision, decided to publish the newspaper " Rilindja Demokratike " as a newspaper of free speech, an organ of the Democratic Party, and directed by journalist, writer, poet and publicist Preç Zogaj.

Alongside him, a group of students active in the December movement would start working in the newspaper's team, as well as prominent intellectuals from various fields of Tirana would be its collaborators."
