Kurti for The Guardian: Blinken's statement was unfair, wrong and very naive

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, speaking today to the British daily The Guardian, said that Monday was very difficult, and that "we are lucky that no life was lost".
The head of the government of Kosovo also commented on the message of the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
The latter has reprimanded the Kosovo authorities, saying that the decision to use force to enter municipal buildings in the north was taken "against the advice" of the US and European partners and that "they are escalating tensions in the north and increasing instability ".
Kurti expressed dissatisfaction with this statement, calling it a "softening" of the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vučić, Telegrafi reports.
"I think it's not only unfair, wrong and hurtful, but at the same time very naive," Kurti told The Guardian by phone.
"Maybe Secretary Blinken will explain this further one day, but ultimately it was not helpful," he declared.
Since then, Kurti said he had spoken with the US envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar. He said Escobar had asked Kosovo authorities to move the mayors to different facilities, or have them work from home, a request he had refused.
"We cannot have a Zoom (online video call platform) mayor, we are a democratic republic," said Kurti. "A democratic republic cannot surrender to the fascist militia", he added.
