Former president Vjosa Osmani has reacted for the first time after handing over her duties to parliament speaker Albulena Haxhiu.

Through a video message on social media, she stated that she is leaving the Presidency strong and with allies, just as President Ibrahim Rugova had left it.

"I am proud that we are leaving this institution more respected in the world. With open doors and strong alliances," said Osmani, adding further that during these 5 years he has learned that in fact sometimes the challenges of a country do not come from outside " but from within, from those who see consistency with principles as an obstacle and when loyalty to the state of the same does not match their daily interests."

The former president further stated: "And precisely in these moments, a leader must choose between convenience and integrity. I am convinced that I chose integrity, because for me the Republic is not an instrument, it is a trust."
