Gas station explodes in Bucharest, at least 1 dead and several injured

At least one person is dead after an explosion at a gas station in Bucharest, Romania on August 26.

Due to the large fire, officials have implemented the emergency protocol and called on residents to stay away from the area.

Eight people suffered injuries from the fire and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rafila confirmed that one person had died and said there could be another victim.

As a result of the explosion, the authorities have evacuated residents living in private houses near the gas station.

The mayor of Bucharest, Peter Florentin, told broadcaster Digi24 that a private house was engulfed in fire.
