Dreams, the cause of personal conflicts

Fear, according to researchers, is not the cause of anxiety. Instead, they say the worst dreams leave us sad, confused, and guilty.
They also found that it was the threat of physical aggression that caused anxiety, and nightmares were often brought about by interpersonal conflicts.

Researchers at the University of Montreal showed that anxiety gives a big emotional impact, compared to bad things, and fear is not always a factor.

What is felt, instead, is sadness, confusion, guilt and disgust.

In their analysis of 253 anxieties and 431 bad dreams, the researchers obtained the narratives of 10,000 dreams.

Physical aggression is the most frequently reported nightmare, said Genevieve Robert and Antonio Zadra, psychology researchers at the University of Montreal, in the latest issue of the journal Sleep.

"Anxieties become so intense that they keep you awake. Bad dreams, on the other hand, are the cause of personal conflicts.

Researchers say that the most common reasons for nightmares are death, health concerns and threats.

Men's anxiety was also greater than women's anxieties, which included themes of catastrophes and disasters such as floods, earthquakes and war, while themes involving interpersonal conflicts were twice as frequent and worse among women.

According to researchers, all those who suffer from anxiety can acquire insomnia.
