In recent days, the US Democratic Party's lobbying contract was revealed, with a figure of $6 million for two years.
Arlind Qori, through a direct link to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, said that lobbying in itself is a procedure that erodes democracy, while raising questions about who pays these staggering figures for the Democratic Party.
He added that the Together Movement party he leads has minimal campaign expenses and does not accept donations larger than 100,000 old lek.
"I think that lobbying with money is not healthy for democracy, it is a way of eroding democracy even in developed countries, not for Albania.
The other problem, the staggering sum of 6 million dollars. Where is this money? Who are these generous donors who give a political party 6 million dollars to lobby? It seems to me that such donations serve more to buy the will and future action of the parties than to make healthy politics. The Socialist Party has also done similar things, Rama has paid money for photos with Obama.
I want to contrast this, when well-wishers stop me on the street and ask me if I would like to contribute financially, I mention the law that sets a financial ceiling, but I tell them that for us the maximum donation would be 100 thousand old lek. Some people contribute even more, but this is our standard. Politics with maximum transparency.
We have printed leaflets, when I meet citizens and they say I have changed my mind about voting for another party, but I am taking the leaflet, I tell them we have such limited resources that I am taking it back.
When the Together Movement campaigns like this, why do other parties, which have funding from the state budget, which receive hundreds of thousands of dollars, need so much money? What is this competition about who spends the most money? No one is accountable to institutions and citizens. This is a disease wider than the SP and the DP. Even newly created parties spend unreasonable amounts.
A report came out that a new party had spent 20,000 euros on Facebook sponsorships. Where do they find these?
We need a different policy. Lobbying cannot be a political alternative.
We need different politics, political parties reinvest part of the stolen money to put makeup on their faces. Marketing companies, they buy experts, in the end lobbying. I hope the day is near when political representatives will be dignified, not pay money for a photo or two lines of a message. Real politics is done in Albania, by the citizens. We in the Joint Movement have chosen this type of politics, modest and rich in ideas, strong and committed to the territory.
The old parties' time has come and these are the last gestures, both of the ruling party that has been governing for 12 years, and of the opposition party as well.
"On May 12, there will be a new, real opposition with extraordinary potential, and this opposition will be represented by the Together Movement," said Qori.
