SP convenes Parliament today to declare Iran a terrorist state, Democrats

The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has decided not to participate in the plenary session to be held today in the Assembly.

This decision was taken after the convening of the session was considered illegal and in violation of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure. The position was made public by the head of the Democratic parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi.

According to the head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, the session was called outside its usual day of holding, which is Thursday, and with an agenda that only includes the approval of the minutes and announcements.

He emphasized that this is not a normal parliamentary session, but a meeting called for the personal agenda of Prime Minister Edi Rama and Assembly Speaker Niko Peleshi, without an officially approved or announced agenda and in violation of the procedures provided for by the Assembly's Rules of Procedure.

According to Bardhi, a parliament without an agenda, without debate and without a voice for the opposition cannot function normally and risks becoming an instrument in the service of the government. He added that instead of Parliament dealing with the real problems of citizens and exercising control over the government, it has become a mechanism that also obstructs justice in the investigation of corruption.

" The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group decided not to participate in Tuesday's plenary session, an illegal session, called in open violation of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure, outside its normal day (Thursday) and with the Agenda: approval of minutes and announcements.

This is not a normal parliamentary session, but a meeting called for the personal agenda of the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Assembly, without any officially approved or announced agenda, and in violation of the minimum procedures guaranteed by the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.

A parliament without an agenda, without debate, and without a voice for the opposition is no longer a parliament, but a prop for government propaganda. A personal shop that does not serve the public interest.

Instead of Parliament dealing with the real problems of citizens and exercising control over the government, it has become an anti-democratic instrument in the service of the Prime Minister, obstructing justice in the investigation of corruption and becoming a serious obstacle to Albania's full membership in the European Union.

For this reason, the opposition refuses to become part of this parliamentary facade tomorrow and chooses to be where any responsible opposition should be: close to the citizens.

Our priority this week remains meeting with citizens across the country and mobilizing for the March 22 protest. Because the real problem of Albania today is a government that has become a national danger. Therefore, the opposition is determined to stand with the citizens and lead the battle for change, a zero-tolerance war against corruption, and a responsible government at the service of citizens. ", writes Bardhi in a post on social networks.
