The chairman of the Mundësia party, Agron Shehaj, has revealed the reason why he left the Democratic Party and created his new party, "Mundësia".
Invited to the show Log. on News 24, Shehaj said that the reason was because, according to him, the party was not heading in the right direction and that he lost faith that change would happen within the DP.
"I came out against the chairman, having everyone against me, because I was convinced that the party was not heading in the right direction. I lost faith that change would happen within the DP. That's when I decided to leave the Democratic Party," he said.
He explained that he initially joined the DP to bring about as much change as he could, even though he knew it was not a "pure party."
He further emphasized that his belief is that "the state should be taken off the backs of Albanians."
"This is my belief, a smaller state, fewer taxes, a true capitalism, which can make the state richer," he said.
Shehaj: I joined the DP to bring about as much change as I could. I fought in two directions, the first, against theft, corruption, oligarchy and the second to pursue my vision. I joined the DP in 2017, aware that it was not perfect, that's how it happens. In politics, you can't expect to find a pure party.
But I joined the DP, convinced that it was absolutely not perfect, that it needed the help of those who were not tainted, who came from an untainted business experience, not connected to power, to give my contribution to making the DP better and more credible.
The fight within for corruption and theft. My daughter is that Albania needs a right-wing vision, which means, Albanians do not need the state, but to get the state off their backs. I came out against the president, having everyone against me, because I was convinced that the Party was not heading in the right direction.
I lost faith that change would happen within the DP. That's when I decided to leave the Democratic Party, with a group of young people who believe in integrity, honesty, are immaculate, are elusive and have no connection to power. Convinced that Albanians should have the state taken off their backs. This is my conviction, a smaller state, fewer taxes, a true capitalism, which can make the state richer.
