"Albania-Turkey" - Ambassador Atay: The year 2024 has been very successful

The Ambassador of Turkey in Tirana, Tayyar Kağan Atay assessed today that the year 2024 has been a very successful year in the relations between the two countries and very busy with mutual visits and various activities.
Ambassador Atay, in a statement to the media, spoke about the strategic partnership between Turkey and Albania, mutual high-level visits, agreements between the two countries, the activities of Turkish institutions in Albania, cooperation in summits and regional initiatives between the two countries, as well as it also stops at the Israeli attacks on Gaza, the killing of innocent civilians and other issues.
Ambassador Atay said that the establishment of relations at the level of strategic partnership between Turkey and Albania was done with the approval of both countries.
He singled out the official visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on October 10, of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the end of January, the meetings in Ankara and Tirana of the High Level Cooperation Council with the participation of leaders and high officials from the two countries and the opening of Namazgja Mosque, built with the financial contribution of Turkey.
"In October, we also had the visit of our president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, where it was achieved that the Namazgja Mosque was also inaugurated. I believe that the inauguration of the Namazgja Mosque is one of the most important, meaningful and significant developments for all Albanians, for whom it will provide services for all strata", said Atay.
The Turkish ambassador emphasized that the trade volume between the two countries, compared to last year, has grown quite high and added that at the end of the year they hope it will reach 1 billion dollars.
Speaking about Israel's attacks on Gaza, Ambassador Atay said that what worries them, they are also looking at Turkey's policies, have been Israel's bombings and attacks on Gaza and on innocent people.
"It was genocide that is being applied by the Israeli state. At the same time, we expect Albania to show a little more sensitivity to this cruelty, injustice and genocide that is being practiced in Gaza during this bloody war", said Atay.
He also emphasized that Albania has marked many positive developments, especially in the process of integration into the European Union. "The opening of negotiations for the first group-chapters was in October and I wish from the bottom of my heart that this process towards the integration (of Albania) in the European Union will be closed as soon as possible", said Atay.
The Turkish ambassador emphasized that they hope that even in the coming months of 2025, the visit of the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama to Turkey and within the framework of the visit, the next meeting of the High Level Cooperation Council, will bring a lot of productivity. / Anadolu Agency - ATSH
