Accused of defamation, GJKKO declares Erion Braçe innocent

The Special Court has today (June 3) issued a decision on the lawsuit and criminal report filed against Socialist MP Erion Braçe for defamation.

Judge Flojera Davidhi, after reviewing the request of the accuser Anduel Çekrezi, decided to declare the majority lawmaker, who had participated in the court hearings, innocent.

"The accusing victim, citizen Anduel Çekrezi, on 03.03.2026, submitted to the Court the request with the subject matter: "The trial and conviction of Mr. Erion Braçe, for the commission of the criminal offense of "Defamation", committed publicly, provided for by Article 120, paragraph two of the Criminal Code".

At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a panel composed of Judge Flojera Davidhi, with decision no. 45, dated 03.06.2026, decided:

The declaration of innocence of the accused Erion Braçe, for committing the criminal offense of "Defamation", committed publicly, provided for by Article 120, paragraph two of the Criminal Code - the announcement states.

We recall that MP Erion Braçe had been involved for months in a legal process with photovoltaic businessman Anduel Çekrezi, following public statements and posts on social networks regarding a property conflict in the Imshtë area, in Lushnje.

The conflict is related to claims of occupying residents' land for the construction of a photovoltaic park. Businessman Çekrezi claims that he has proper ownership documentation and that the land in question was purchased legally.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, MP Braçe insisted that this is public land, even claiming that part of the river has been privatized.

The clash between the parties ended in legal action, with Çekrezi suing Braçe for defamation, while today the court declared the latter innocent.
