Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski delivers another speech in defense of

The Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Aleksander Nikoloski, has reacted for the second time within a short period regarding the detention of former President of Albania, Ilir Meta.

During a statement in the Parliament of North Macedonia, Nikoloski made strong accusations, emphasizing that Meta is being held in detention without evidence and that his arrest is politically motivated.

According to him, following previous statements on this issue, pro-government media in Albania have reacted in a coordinated manner against him.

'Surprisingly, all the pro-government media in the Republic of Albania write with the same theses against me. So, you have the same opinion as those media,' he said.

Nikoloski listed three main issues that, according to him, have been used in reactions to his statements. First, he rejected claims that his stance could negatively affect relations between the two countries.

Alexander Nikoloks's reaction:

The first thing I want to say is that after answering the last parliamentary question when I spoke about the case of Ilir Meta, strangely, all the pro-government media in the Republic of Albania wrote columns with the same theses against me that you just said.

So, surprisingly, you have the same opinion as all the pro-government media in Albania.

In general, there are three theses that you just said.

The first thesis is whether this would mean a breakdown in relations with the Republic of Albania.

No, it doesn't mean that, on the contrary.

The second thesis is that the US and the European Union were behind this.

So, the US and the European Union ordered the beating in the middle of the highway of a former Prime Minister, President, Speaker of Parliament, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

And the third thing has to do with some kind of ties to Hungary and so on, but after the US President went to Budapest yesterday, I see you're not telling him now.

This is the first thing I want to tell you.

The second thing is that relations with the Republic of Albania are absolutely good, excellent and were like that, are like that and will remain like that.

But it's surprising that after two or three weeks you reopened the question and I want to ask you now, so answer this question:

Is it true that after your President Arbent Aravari got into trouble with the Gjoka case, he went to the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, to ask for help and the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, told him:

I can help you, but Ali Ahmeti can help you more than me.

And so they parked you in a coalition with Ali Ahmeti.

Well, you now have the opportunity to respond.

I would also like to ask, because I know this will be reported, if anyone in Albania has anything to say about what I am saying, please say it.

Let it not be used as a representative.

They've given you a really unpleasant role.

I know that the scandal with Gjoka is huge, but I also know that this role they are giving you is extremely unpleasant.

And the third thing I want to say is personal.

Ilir Meta is a friend of mine, I have been to his house several times, both in Tirana and at his house on the coast.

Both alone and with my wife, we have been friends as a family and will continue to be friends.

He was my friend when he was at the height of his political power, he is my friend now.

I'll wait for them to tell you what you should answer me.

If time could be stopped so they could get advice on what to tell me.

You took advice on what to answer me, okay, okay...

So he was my friend even when he was at the peak of his political power, he is my friend even today, when he is probably experiencing the most difficult moments in his life.

I don't give up on people.

My colleagues from VMRO DPMNE know this very well.

They know who my friends are, what my views are and how long I've held them and I've never given up on a friend, unlike many others who are here.

When you're in charge, like those around us are now, since we are the government, but they run away with the first problem.

I don't run away from my friends and I will support him, because I consider it fair to support him, because we are friends.

And let it serve the honor of those who ordered him to be stopped in the middle of the highway, beaten, as they unfortunately were, arrested in that way, and by chance there were cameras there, let them publish that in the media.

Likewise, let the honor of those who keep him in detention for two years without indicting him, without starting a trial, be served in the same way.

This only happened in the mindset of Tito and Enver Hoxha in unison.

Let me be balanced in speaking about both countries.

I have family members who have gone through things like this.

I hope he is free soon and that we can spend time both at his house by the sea and at my house in Ohrid.

Happening now...
