Alicia Vikander returns to the stage after 17 years

You've likely seen Alicia Vikander on screen over the past decade, thanks to performances in films like Tomb Raider, Ex Machina, and her Oscar-winning role in The Danish Girl. However, one place you won't have seen her during that time is on stage.
The Swedish actress hasn't appeared on stage in 17 years, since she was a teenager. But that's about to change. Vikander will star in a new West End production of Ibsen's "The Lady from the Sea," which will also be her British stage debut.
Speaking to BBC News, Vikander, 36, said she was excited to be returning to the stage, but added that it was a " scary thing to do... it's my first time on stage as an adult."
The production will run at London's Bridge Theatre for eight weeks from September 10, organisers announced on Wednesday.
"I grew up being in the theater a lot, my mother [Maria Fahl] was a stage actress, and I think even when I dreamed of becoming an actress myself, being on stage was the journey that I visualized in a way," Vikander said.
"In Sweden, where I come from, if you're an actor, then what you really are is on stage. And you're lucky to maybe have a TV show or a movie every two years, because the industry is so small in Sweden. So I think that's what I've always seen in front of me. And then life happened and over the years, theater has always been something I've waited for and thought 'it's going to happen,'" she added.
The show is adapted and directed by Simon Stone and will also star The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln.
