French actor Gerard Depardieu found guilty

Renowned French actor Gerard Depardieu, 76, has been found guilty of sexual assault against two women and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
He has starred in more than 200 films, was convicted by a Paris court of sexually harassing two women during the filming of the 2021 film, Les Volets Verts.
His lawyer announced that Depardieu would appeal the decision. The two women reportedly worked behind the scenes during the filming of the film. They said they were afraid to speak out at the time and felt intimidated by Depardieu. One of the women, named Amelie, a set designer, told the court that Depardieu grabbed her between his legs as she tried to walk down a hallway and then ran his hands over her body.
On the other hand, Depardieu has denied the allegations, and has received support from many actors, directors and even from French President Emmanuel Macron, who had previously described the actor as "the glory of France."
