Barcelona has suffered a serious blow on the eve of the return match against Inter in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Catalan club has officially confirmed that Jules Koundé has suffered a muscle injury and will not be available for Tuesday's match that will decide the fate of a ticket to the grand final.

In an official statement, Barça announced:

"Medical examinations carried out this morning on Jules Koundé have revealed an injury to the femoral biceps of his left leg. His return to the field will depend on the progress of his clinical recovery."

The French defender was forced to leave the field in the first half of the first leg against Inter after suffering a muscle problem in his thigh.

Initially, there was hope that it was a minor inconvenience, but medical tests have revealed a genuine injury, which excludes him from the challenge of returning.

A big miss for Flick, who loses an important element of the backline, especially against a team like Inter that is very efficient in transitions and often looks for spaces behind the defense.

Koundé, in addition to guaranteeing good defensive coverage, was also a player with good ball skills.
