New rules, towards a football with a stopwatch

Football takes a small step forward towards effective time. As "Marca" reports, there will be an IFAB meeting in London on Saturday.

The main innovation that will be discussed will be the time lost during the goal celebration, which will be recovered in extra time.

Simply put, if a player celebrates after a goal for two minutes, the referee will add two minutes to the extra time. Of course, the decision will not take effect immediately, but it would not be surprising that from 2024 onwards after scoring the goal the referee's stopwatch will measure the time lost to add to the end.

Some of the rules that will go into effect for the 23-24 season are based on something that happened recently.

If there are bench players on the field when a goal is scored, it must be disallowed.

The "anti-Dibu Martínez" rule will also come into force, as the goalkeeper at the moment of the penalty kick will be prohibited from actions that distract the striker (unjustified delays, touching the posts, the crossbar, etc.).
