Another tragedy in football, this time in France, where it was announced the death on the pitch of a 25-year-old player, Jordan Doekoe, who fell to the ground on Sunday 24 March during a match.
He was immediately helped by the medical staff, but it was not possible to keep him alive: "Jordan fell to the ground suddenly while he was running during the game", - said afterwards the president of the young man's team, AS Villey-Saint-Étienne. Eric Lecler, present at the match.
The match was immediately abandoned and then postponed to a date to be decided. The dramatic scene was then relived by President Lecler, who watched from the other side, unable to do anything: "The first instinct was to call the fire brigade, which arrived immediately.
The match was immediately stopped to help the boy. We are all still in shock. Many young people were present at the match. We have now remained in touch to understand what we should decide to help other players, for example with psychological assistance. We still do not have all the information about the causes of death, we will know more in the coming days."
The circumstances of his death remain to be determined, but a sudden cardiac arrest is suspected. The game between Villey-Saint-Etienne and Gondreville was immediately abandoned, and the subsequent ones on the calendar were also postponed as a sign of mourning.
" Good evening everyone, we have organized a fundraiser to help Jordan Doekoe's family deal with this drama in the best way possible. Our thoughts go out to the child and his wife. Thank you for your support", - wrote the club of the late football player on their social profiles.
