Karim Adeyemi, the German national team striker and Borussia Dortmund star, has been fined 450,000 euros by German authorities. The decision comes after he and his partner, Albanian singer Loredana Zefi, were found to be in possession of prohibited weapons.
According to the German daily Bild, the incident occurred about a year ago, when police found "two objects classified as prohibited weapons" in the couple's belongings, immediately initiating criminal proceedings, writes Insajderi.
The German court has imposed a heavy fine on Adeyemi, which is a total amount of 450 thousand euros. This fine will be paid in 60 monthly installments of 7,500 euros each. Although no prison sentence or criminal record was given, local media have described the incident as a “serious blow to the image of a national football player”.
Adeyemi has not made a public comment. However, through his manager, Jorge Mendes, it was clarified that the weapons were not intentionally purchased by them, but had arrived as part of a “mystery box” ordered through TikTok – a claim that does not legally absolve them of responsibility for their possession.
Borussia Dortmund immediately reacted with an official statement, stressing that the club “takes any criminal matter very seriously” and that it is in constant communication with the player and the authorities. The club has not confirmed whether internal disciplinary measures are expected, while German media estimate that the incident strengthens criticism of his off-field behavior and that an internal investigation by Dortmund is expected to be opened.
