Huawei introduces the first smartphone that folds in three

The Chinese company has "responded" to Apple - which just introduced the new iPhone 16 - with a smartphone that looks like it came straight out of the science fiction television series Westworld, in which the protagonists use a mobile device whose screen folds into three parts, writes 'la Repubblica'.
The new phone is called the Mate XT and was unveiled in China just hours after Apple's event in Cupertino. Although there have been prototypes of smartphones with screens that fold into multiple parts, Huawei is the first to officially market it.
When closed through the folds, the Mate XT has the dimensions of a traditional smartphone – except for the thickness, which seems a little larger – but when opened it becomes a small tablet and the screen size increases significantly.
The MateXT costs $2,800 and is currently only available in China. Huawei said the device has already been pre-ordered by more than four million people.
