AKU blocks livestock corn with aflatoxin, disciplinary measures for inspectors

The National Food Authority has blocked 24 tons of corn with the presence of aflatoxin B1 above the norm in the Shkodra region, belonging to the entity "Modi" shpk.

The subject in question, according to the report drafted by this directorate, is accused of 'Fraud with food products'.

According to a media release, the NFA announces that the latest field inspections conducted in March 2026 have revealed serious violations by the business operator.

"This subject has acted in open violation of the law by intentionally destroying safety signs (locking strips) and moving the unsafe quantity without any traceability documentation, actions for which the AKU has reacted with full determination by imposing four administrative measures "Fine" and by filing a criminal report with the justice authorities for intentionally destroying safety signs, placing dangerous foods in circulation and fraud with food products," the AKU announcement states.

The AKU has initiated disciplinary proceedings against DRAKU Shkodra inspectors for dereliction of duty, as the integrity of the inspection process is non-negotiable.
