Arrested in the luxurious villa 'Polaku', he was the connecting link between the Albanian mafia and the Ecuadorian cartels

The National Police have arrested in the Santa Elena province of Ecuador Jakimiec Tomasz, known by the nickname 'Polaku', a high-value target who was wanted through an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol for illegal drug trafficking.

The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday, June 9, by Interior Minister John Reimberg, who released footage from the operation, including a panoramic photo of the luxury residence where the suspect was detained.

The operation is called 'Operación Varsovia' and was carried out by specialized units of the National Police with the aim of dismantling structures linked to international drug trafficking.

According to Minister Reimberg, Jakimiec Tomasz, 48, is a Polish citizen and also holds Ecuadorian naturalization. He had an international arrest warrant from Interpol for trafficking in controlled substances.

According to investigations, 'Polaku' is suspected of being a key figure in an international criminal network involved in sending large quantities of drugs from Ecuador's main ports to various European countries.

Authorities state that he had suspected links to the Albanian mafia, Colombian armed groups and Ecuadorian criminal organizations such as Los Lobos and Los Choneros.

He is also suspected of serving as a strategic link for coordinating drug trafficking operations between criminal organizations operating in different countries in the region.

During the operation, agents also seized two firearms as material evidence.

After the arrest, 'Polaku' was made available to the judicial authorities for the continuation of the relevant legal procedures.

'This subject was brought to justice for due process. There is no place for criminals and the economies they try to feed,' the Interior Minister declared, announcing the operation.
