Two Albanians arrested while storing 1 ton of hashish with Kalashnikovs in Spain

Spanish police have arrested two Albanian citizens in Cádiz, who were caught storing a quantity of 1 ton of hashish armed with Kalashnikov-type weapons.

According to Spanish media , the arrests were made in the Pelayo area, in Algeciras, where police had obtained information that the drugs were hidden in a flat used by criminal groups as a warehouse for newly unloaded cargo.

Investigations showed that the hashish had arrived on the coasts of Algeciras and Tarifa via drug boats, while Albanians had the role of "guardians" of the cargo.

During the search, police seized three Kalashnikovs loaded with ammunition and fully functional – ready to be used at any moment.

Authorities assess that the presence of such weapons poses a high risk in the Campo de Gibraltar area, known as one of the main drug trafficking hotspots in Europe.

The operation is a follow-up to a previously announced investigation, which led to the identification of a building used by a criminal organization to store drugs.
