Roaming tariffs, in 2026 Albanians will use the phone in the EU without additional costs

Albania is getting ready to abolish roaming fees with European Union countries.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has issued for public consultation several amendments to the law "On Electronic Communications", which aim to align Albanian legislation with European legislation regarding the implementation of the "Roaming Like At Home" regime.
The objective is that by 2026, Albanian citizens will be able to use their phones without additional costs for minutes, messages or internet in European Union countries, just like in Albania. The same will apply to European citizens visiting our country.
The law also provides for the reduction of technical costs among operators, to ensure that the benefit actually goes to users, while the innovation is the imposition of fines for telephone operators that do not comply with the new Roaming rules.
This initiative, which is considered an important step towards integration into the EU's digital single market, is expected to bring benefits to the free movement of citizens and improve the business climate.
Earlier, the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, described the abolition of roaming fees for mobile telephony as a significant step in Albania's integration into the European Union.
