Iran reacts to new attacks in the Middle East: No act of aggression will go unanswered

Iran has vowed not to leave any act of aggression unanswered after what it calls a "flagrant violation" of the ceasefire by the US.

The US launched what it called defensive strikes on Iran early this morning, against the backdrop of an increasingly unstable ceasefire.

Iran's Foreign Ministry said the US military "has committed a flagrant violation of the ceasefire in Hormozgan province over the past 48 hours."

"Without a doubt, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not leave any act of aggression unanswered and will not hesitate at all to defend Iran's sovereignty," the ministry said in a post on social media.

US Central Command said it had carried out new strikes on Iran "to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces".
