A gang operating in the L'Aquila area for drug distribution has been destroyed by the police. The court has issued 30 detention orders, 26 of which are prison terms, 3 house arrests and 1 mandatory appearance.

The investigation shows that the gang operated from 2021 to 2024, while its activity was the retail sale of narcotics such as cocaine. Its members were from Albania, Italy and North Macedonia, with family ties between them. The gang was led by three people of Albanian, Macedonian and Ukrainian nationality

Investigations into the gang bust lasted two years, the Italian authorities announced, while emphasizing that the drug trafficking took place during the period 2021-2024.

According to the Italian media, of the 26 persons for whom the Court has imposed security measures with prison, 6 have lost track, while they have been declared wanted by the law enforcement authorities.

Security measures have been issued for: Kujtim Raboshta, Shaban Iseni, Ergys Arrinjeti, Anna Pysanets, Iljas Beshiri, Arminson Hodaj, Latif Ademi, Terenzio Ferrari. Vincenzo Silva, Alessio Cuçhiarelli, Loris Zaçagnini, Elgadaf Hamidi, Alexandru Ionut Enea, Simona Coço, Ardit Hodaj, Michele Franco, Salvatore Riçiardi, Stefania Valente, Arjan Toci, Alvaro Zhupaj, Redjol Zhupai, Aldesar Zhupaj, Domenico Di Pietro, Olsi Kapllanaj, Filsnik Aljia, Egdon Buzalli.

Meanwhile, Francesca Sbaffo, Ezgona Iseni and Sabastian Rrasa are under house arrest, while Alessandro Ferrari is under compulsory attendance.

During the operation, 12 other people suspected of the criminal offenses of possessing and selling cocaine with the role of promoters of the criminal group were checked.

The investigative activities, after which a total of 42 people were investigated, made it possible to establish how this criminal organization, operating mainly in Abruzzo and also in Lazio, was able to manage and trade significant quantities of cocaine with a client portfolio of around 650 people and with a significant turnover estimated at around 1 million 966 thousand euros.

It also emerged that the gang has demonstrated that it is organized in such a way that it is able to change locations and treatment methods to avoid police checks.

The gang operated with three drug-selling groups in L'Aquila: one on the outskirts of the city in the Pile area, the second outside the city center and the third and most important near an apartment where some of the leaders of the group lived, located in the city center near the Castle Park.

During the investigation, the investigators also found foreigners, mainly young North Africans, who are accused of assaults, fights and drug distribution. The top-down organized association was headed by three people, of Albanian, Macedonian and Ukrainian nationality, who dealt with the supply of narcotics by dictating directives and orders to collaborators for the management of drug trafficking activity and gathering all income.
