Flames in Patos and Mallakastër, the Armed Forces helicopter intervenes to extinguish the fires

The Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, has closely followed the firefighting operation in the villages of Lofkënd and Drenie, in the area between the municipalities of Patos and Mallakastra, where an area of pine trees and dense vegetation has been engulfed in flames.

The operation to isolate and extinguish the fire is continuing with interventions from the ground and air, while Armed Forces troops are engaged in the field in close cooperation with civil emergencies of the Fier region and fire services from several municipalities and institutions.

In total, the operation involves:

-2 firefighting vehicles of the Armed Forces

-3 firefighters from the Patos municipality

-1 fire engine from the municipality of Mallakastër

-1 fire engine from the Lushnja municipality

-1 fire engine from the municipality of Fier

-2 vehicles of the Albpetrol company

-1 fire engine from the municipality of Roskovec

Vengu praised the professionalism and dedication of all forces involved, emphasizing that protecting the lives of citizens and the environment remains an absolute priority.

According to authorities, work to completely neutralize the flames continues with high intensity and close inter-institutional coordination.
